Albion/Hilton: Thomas H. “Tom” Barr, Sr., passed away June 11, 2023. He was born August 10, 1936 in Rochester to the late John and Mildred (Hall) Barr.
Tom made his career as a Firefighter for Eastman Kodak and volunteered with various Fire Departments, including the North Greece Fire Department. Tom’s love for Firefighting was not just his occupation but a life of serving his community through all of the ranks to Assistant Chief as well as being an EMT. Tom made training boards for Emergency Management in various counties and states. He taught Incident command classes at Monroe Community College, helping organizations prepare for any situation.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Mary (Ball) Barr in 2015, and all of his siblings.
Tom is survived by his 6 children, Thomas (Carolyn) Barr Jr., John Barr (Daniel Johnston) (Marty Singleton), Kim (Jeffrey) Frame, Cheryl (Matthew) White, Steven (Darlene) Barr, Susan (Daniel) Flanagan, grandchildren, Michael (Lisa) Barr, AJ Barr, Victoria Barr-Zittel (Kim Zittel-Barr), Nicholas Barr, Jillian Frame, Hilary Frame, Richard (Nidhi) Stiles, Jessica (Justin) Mensing, Lauren (Scott) Hartis, Mary-Jo (Adam) Norwood, Kristy Barr, Katie (Cody) Osborne, Kaylee Barr, Rebecca (Jon) Tyx, Laura (Ben) Miller, Matthew Flanagan, Kelley (Michael) Karcz, John (Loren) Flanagan, Richard Flanagan, Aaron Flanagan, 14 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Tom’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Monroe County Volunteer Fireman’s Association, Inc. P.O. Box 22786 Rochester, NY 14692.
