Obituary of Thomas Stirk (ALBION)
Thomas J. Stirk age 93, formerly of Gaines Road, died 6/13/2014 in the Martin Linsin Hospice Residence. He was born 10/1/1920 in Chassell, MI a son of the late Thomas and Josephine(Lawrence)Stirk and had lived in this area most of his life. Tom was a United States Army Veteran having served in the European Theater during WWII in the 1st Armored Tank Division. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Knights of Columbus St. Joan of Arc Assembly 4th Degree, BPO Elks Lodge #1006, Sheret Post #35 American Legion and was a Life Member of the Albion Fire Department Active Hose Company. Tom was a former employee of the Albion Correctional Facility retiring in 1975. In addition to his Civic involvement, Mr. Stirk enjoyed gardening, attending Knights of Columbus Conventions and spending time with his family, especially at barbeques. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Doris, his children: Michael(Sally)Stirk of Albion, Dennis(Sara)Stirk of Albion, Ann(Stanley)Bakeman of FL, John(Lisa Lessard)Stirk of Albion, Thomas(Joanie Winkley)Stirk of Albion, Martin(Diane)Stirk of Albion, Dorothy(Alain)Belaveau of Mechanicsville, NY as well as 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend Tom's Mass of Christian Burial TUESDAY at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Parish. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Holy Family Parish or Hospice of Orleans.
