Obituary of Veda M. Lemcke (Holley/Kendall/Waterport) Veda Marie Lemcke passed peacefully October 2, 2014 into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the Home of her loving granddaughter Jennifer (Tony) Viteritto in Meridianville AL at the age of 95 years, 9 months. She was born in the Town of Murray January 4, 1919 to Fred and Ruth Downey. Veda had lived on the farm in Morton with her husband Ray where they raised their 3 children. She retired from General Electric Corp. in Brockport and had spent many years with her husband in Florida and summers on Lake Alice in Waterport near her daughter Shirley (Bill) Harrison. Veda and Ray were long time members of St. John Lutheran Church in Hamlin and the Gaines Carlton Community Church in Albion. "Gramsie" will be remembered for her strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, her great love for her family, her love of cooking, baking and making "goodies" to give away, her great kindness and compassion for everyone that she met. She always managed to see the best in any situation saying "That's the way God meant it to be!" In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Raymond C. Lemcke; son Dale R. Lemcke; daughter Shirley A. Harrison; dear friend and companion Victor Flow; 6 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her son Wayne (Belinda) Lemcke of Harris Rd. Waterport; grandchildren Michael (Sharon) Harrison, Steven (Kathy) Harrison, David (Megan) Lemcke, Jennifer (Anthony) Viteritto, Kevin (Sheila) Lemcke, Thomas (Carrie) Lemcke, Elisabeth (Jon) Bliss, Benjamin (finacee Cassandra Cronin), Deborah (Nicholas) Campanella, Mary (Scott) Christopher, Rebecca (James) Gillette; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, friends at Pleasant Springs Baptist Chuch in Huntsville AL and Gaines Carlton Community Church in Albion, Wellington Woods in Brockport, General Electric retiree group, ladies of her Canasta Card Club of more than sixty years, special friends Kathleen Lamy and Patricia Parker with the entire Vic Flow family and her faithful guardian and companion Buddy. There are no prior calling hours. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday October 25th at 11:00am at the Gaines Carlton Community Church. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Lakeside Cemetery in Hamlin. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans. Visitation
