Obituary of Vincent "Butch" Merlin III Vincent J. Merlin III "Butch" of Gasport passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Buffalo General Hospital. Mr. Merlin was born in Medina, NY on August 27, 1947 son of the late Vincent J. Merlin Jr., and Muriel (Williams) Merlin and he has lived in the Middleport area all of his life. He was a 1967 graduate of Royalton-Hartland High School and he served in the US Army from l967 to l969 as a radio operator in South Korea in the DMZ. He and his wife Deborah (Hinkley) Merlin were married September 20, 1969. He was employed at Harrison Radiator GMC., retiring after 30 years of service. Mr. Merlin enjoyed his family, his grandchildren, working on vehicles. He had helped his father farm when he was a young man. He appreciated the staff at Absolut Nursing Home and all their care. Mr. Merlin was predeceased by his brother Michael D. Merlin. He is survived by his wife Deborah H. Merlin, his children Jennifer (Larry Perry) Merlin of Barker, Vincent J. (Bobbie) Merlin IV of Gasport, seven grandchildren Alura Rusay, Sierra Quagliano, Rylee Quagliano, Carolyn Merlin, Vincent J. "Jack" Merlin V, David Merlin and Derek Merlin. Also surviving are two sisters Anne Merlin of Buffalo and Carolyn (Randy) Radel of Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives may call Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Hartland United Methodist Church, 8019 Ridge Rd., Gasport, NY where funeral services will follow at 11:30 AM with the Rev. Cheryl Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Hartland Central Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
