Obituary of Warren Sheldon Warren "Tom" Sheldon of Middleport passed away Wednesday June 6, 2012 at the Medina Memorial Healthcare System.
Mr. Sheldon was born in Middleport on April 25, 1922 son of the late Frank and Cora (Lord) Sheldon and he has lived in the Middleport area all of his life.
He served in the US Army Air Corp in the South Pacific in the 5th Air Force-8th Fighter Group in the 35th Fighter Squadron. He served as a sergeant in the Armament.
He was employed as an insurance representative for the Prudential Insurance Company for many years retiring in l977.
He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medina and also was a member of the Middleport Rotary Club, and Clute -Phillips American Legion Post #938-Middleport.
He enjoyed his family and he loved to play trombone and played with the Bergholtz German band and also with several other community bands.
He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn M. Sheldon in 2010 and by three brothers and one sister Gilman Sheldon, Harold Sheldon, Frank Sheldon and Ada Sheldon.
He is survived by two daughters Linda Sheldon of Woodstock, NY., and Marie (Stephen) Socha of Lockport and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport.
Members of Clute- Phillips American Legion Post #938 will meet at the funeral home Sunday at 7PM.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, West Avenue, Medina., NY with the Rev. Josh McGuffie officiating.
Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.
Memorials to St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the Sheldon family.
