Obituary of William Albert Barnard William Albert Barnard Sr., age 78, of Gasport, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Buffalo Veteran Hospital. Born May 26, 1935 in Lockport, William is the son of the late James Russell and Keziah Jane (Moreland) Barnard. William serviced his county in the US Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NY where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. William carried a card with him that says. “Civilians cannot and will not understand us because they are not one of us. The Corps – we love it, live it and shall die for it. If you have never been in it, you shall never understand it.” Semper Fidelis. He retired from the Corp in 1974. He married Phyllis Miller June 30, 1956 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Gasport where he was a member. William enjoyed reading, fishing and spending time with his family including babysitting for his grandchildren. Surviving William is his wife: Phyllis Barnard; children: Sherrie Anne (Charles) Beecher of Fayetteville, NC, Toni Marie (Anthony) Nicolia of Rochester, William Albert (Cindy) Barnard Jr. of Gasport and Craig (Angie) Barnard of Sallisaw, OK; brother of: Sharon McAvoy of Johnsons Creek and the late Jeanette Fletcher, Judy Ann Barnard and David Charles Barnard. William is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. There will be no prior visitation. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
