Obituary of William A. Hicks Holley NY, formerly of Hobbsville NC: Major William Allen Hicks age 80, died June 11, 2013 at his home. He was born September 3, 1932 in Elba a son of the late Clark and Florence (Fay) Hicks. Bill served in the US Army from 1955-1975 and served three tours in Vietnam as an Parachutist and was awarded several medals for his service including, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Master Parachute Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Medal, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Presidential Unit Citation, Armed Forces Expeditionary Madal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Oak Leaf Cluster. He was predeceased by his son, William "Billy" A. Hicks Jr., wife Verna Horton Hicks; sisters, Bernie & Norma; brother, Fay Hicks who died in WWII. He is survived by his wife Arlene; daughters, Barbara, Deborah, Polly, Kathy, Monique; grandson, River Carrington Hicks; favorite nieces and nephews, Kathy and George Seltzer, Charles and Evie Butcher, several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
