Obituary of William C. Nieman “Uncle Bill” William C. Nieman, age 91, of Gasport, entered into rest on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Orchard Manor in Medina surrounded by his loving family. Born November 15, 1919 in Gasport, he was the son of the late William and Lilly Mae (Halstead) Nieman. William was a 1937 graduate of Gasport High School. He married Ruth J. Harrington May 31, 1941 in Gasport. Mrs. Nieman died July 11, 2009. He had worked as a superintendant at Frontier Stone in Gasport for 43 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Gasport Chemical Hose Co. being active since 1940. William was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He had enjoyed fishing in the Thousand Islands since 1941. He also loved woodworking. William had lived in Gasport his entire live. He is survived by his children: Terry William (the late Donna) Nieman of Gasport, Billie Sue (William) Goll of Amherst, Bonnie Lea (Donald) Rogers of Darien Center and Darcy Beth (the late George) Lenczewski of Middleport. A sister, Irene Dickinson predeceased him. Seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport on Thursday from 7-9 pm and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 11:00 am with the Reverend Rodney Klinzing. Interment will be in Royalton Mountain Ridge Cemetery, Gasport, NY 14067 In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Gasport Chemical Hose Fire Company.
