Obituary of William L. Porter Irondequoit/Kendall: 2/29/32-1/17/14, Captain Bill's voyage came to a conclusion peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He lived his life and died exactly as he wanted, without regrets. Bill was an accomplished musician. Eastman trained, a Jazz drummer who traveled the U.S. with various ensembles including the Jerry Jaye Trio. While he continued to play drums into his 60's, furniture became his next passion, 1st as case goods buyer for Mangurian's and then as the owner of his own company specializing in dining furniture. In the 1980's he achieved his dream of becoming a U.S. Merchant Marine Coast Guard 100 Ton Master. "Cap'n Bill" loved the water and could master any vessel with confidence and skill.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Ronie) Evans, son, Scott (Amy) Porter; granddaughters, Dallas, Hannah and Morgan; grandsons, Logan and Jared.
