Obituary of William Rudes Albion: William Rogers Rudes, age 88, died November 4, 2014 at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine, TX. He was born March 26, 1926 in Piseco, NY, a son of the late Arnold and Grace (Rogers) Rudes. He grew up in the Adirondacks. William owned and operated Rudes Brothers Garage in Lake Pleasant with his older brother; completed aircraft engine mechanic training in New York City and worked on road construction as a crane operator. He met and married the late Geraldine (Vella) Rudes when she moved to Speculator NY to teach school in 1948. They were married April 15, 1950 at St. Joseph's Church in Albion. In 1952, William and Geraldine moved to Albion and William owned and operated a muck farm in Elba for many years. William was active in the Lion's Club for over 30 years, as a former President and recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Upon retirement they spent their winters in Florida and summers in Albion. William was a member of Holy Family Parish- St. Joseph's Church prior to his move to Texas. He is survived by this daughter Lynn Hassis of TX, grandchildren Brian(Callie), Patrick and John Keable, great-granddaughter Eden, sister-in-laws Margaret Joy of Albion and Connie Rudes of Amherst, several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 W. Avenue, Albion, Sunday, November 9, 1:00 to 5:00 PM, where prayers will be said Monday, November 10 at 9:30, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Visitation
