Obituary of Yorke Frederic Knapp (KENDALL)
Yorke Frederic Knapp, age 94, died 4/26/2017 in his home following a long illness. The son of Frederic H. and Elsie (Nowack) Knapp, he was born 6/21/1922 in the family home where he died and lived in all but 5 years. Yorke was a United States Army Veteran of WWII having served as a 1st Lt. Quartermaster for the Truck Corps. in Okinawa and Leyele-Phillipines. As a self employed farmer, he served from 1966-1990 as the CEO of the Albion Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Services Farm Service Agency. York was also a 50+ year member of the Kendall Fire Department, a 65+ year member of the Social Lodge #713 F&AM, a Life Member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Kendall-where he had served on the Church Council, as Church Treasurer and Head Usher. He had also served from 1949-1969 as Justice of Peace for the Town of Kendall. He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years-Joette (Schwalb) Knapp, children: Nyan Fackelman, Yorke (Donna) Knapp of Denver, CO, grandchildren: Stephanie Fackelman-Karl, Chelsey Fackelman-Cantie, Anna Knapp and great grandchildren: Austin, Jacob and Tyler. There will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend Yorke’s Memorial Service in Concordia Lutheran Church, 1769 Kendall Road-Kendall FRIDAY MAY 5th beginning at 11 a.m. Private interment will be held in Beechwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church.
