Before his retirement he had worked for over 30 years as a machinist at Strippit in Akron and was a member and steward of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local # 1691 of North Tonawanda. Robert was a life member of the Medina Conservation Club and the Junior Wilson Sportsmens Club and was a member and treasurer of the Oak Orchard Chapter of The Wild Turkey Federation.
