Allan W. Gilbert, 80, of Middleport, NY passed away unexpectedly on December 8, 2020. Born on April 8, 1940, he was the son of Alice V. Gilbert and the late William A. Gilbert.
He graduated from Barker Central School in 1958. Allan married his high school sweetheart, Esther (Herendeen) Gilbert on January 24, 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy from July 1958-December 1962, U.S. Air Force Reserve and the Air National Guard. Allan was employed at General Motors for 35 years, retiring in 1998.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Esther, his mother, Alice, children, Diane, David (Craig Kelner), Daniel, Deborah (Robert) Faltyn, Darrell (Jacqueline), 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, siblings, JoAnne Eller, William (Linda Donahue), Clarence (Cindy), sister-in-law, Jana, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas and nephew, Thomas.
Due to Covid-19, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Allan donated his body to science at the University of Buffalo.
