Gordy was born March 28, 1943 in Rochester, a son of Earl and Isabelle (Dean) Conley. He had lived in this area for most of his life.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Viet Nam conflict and had been an active member of Sheret Post #35 of the American Legion. He attended the Albion Free Methodist Church and had always been an avid sports fan. He was most recently employed at Tops Supermarket in Albion.
